Resumo

O artigo oferece um estudo canônico e estrutural do Sal 85, colocando-o no contexto do terceiro livro dos Salmos (Sal 73-89). O salmo não é propriamente uma lamentação nem supõe uma moldura cultual. Ele é mais uma reflexão sapiencial sobre a palavra de Deus num momento de crise, que se identifica com as circunstâncias históricas do retorno do exílio (sec. VI a. C.), e tem no Sal 126 um paralelo. O salmo está dividido em 2 cânticos (vv. 2-8 e 9-14), cada qual composto de duas estrofes (vv. 2-4.5-8 e 9-10.11-14). O primeiro cântico exprime a queixa de Israel, confrontando a alegria do retorno em pátria (vv. 2-4) como a presente situação de sofrimento, em que parece que Deus esteja ainda encolerizado com o seu povo (vv. 5-8). O segundo cântico apresenta a resposta de Deus, pela voz do salmista. A terceira estrofe (vv. 9-10) ressalta a responsabilidade de Israel, que pode anular o projeto de paz que Deus tem para o seu povo por causa de sua teimosia. A quarta e última estrofe (vv. 11-14) prospecta, apesar de tudo, um futuro de paz em que o amor de Deus se encontrará, um dia, com o amor do homem. Para um cristão, esse encontro se realizou no nascimento de Jesus, mas precisa ainda ser realizado, pois ainda há guerra no mundo.
