Résumé

Palavras da raiz-εἰρην são raras no Evangelho de Mateus. Porém, isto não significa que o tema da paz seja um assunto de menos importância no Primeiro Evangelho. Por exemplo, o tema é abordado no Sermão da Montanha (Mt 5–7) e, mais diretamente, na sétima bem-aventurança: “bem-aventurados os pacificadores” (Mt 5, 9). Não existe consenso na literatura quanto ao significado e aplicação do substantivo εἰρηνοποιοί/pacificadores. O fato de que se trata de um hápax legomenon dificulta ainda mais sua interpretação. A forma verbal cognata εἰρηνοποιέω também ocorre apenas uma vez no Novo Testamento (Col 1, 20). Este artigo defende que o termo “pacificadores” se refere a pessoas que levam outros a experimentarem um estado de bem-estar e harmonia com Deus bem como promovem reconciliação entre membros na comunidade.
