Resumo

Este trabalho analisa as razões subjacentes ao surgimento e à popularidade crescente do fenômeno de translinguaging. Argumento que, além dos ares de irreverência e jocosidade, amplamente discutidos na literatura, que o fenômeno em questão ostenta, ele também evidencia a tomada de um posicionamento político. Esse aspecto de translanguaging fica mais evidente ainda quando ele é visto contra o pano de fundo de pós-colonialismo, traço característico de muitas das nações emergentes em franco desenvolvimento.
