Abstract

In this essay, we analyze a corpus composed of a brochure of the Ministry of Tourism of Brazil (Roteiros do Brasil: 87 belos motivos para viajar pelo Brasil, 2009), which presents suggested itineraries of trips in the country. The main objective was to determine the mode of circulation of a stereotype about the national space, without assuming, however, stereotypes as something stagnant or reducent, but rather as a regularization, an effect of resumptions, paraphrases and repetitions that lead to “forgetting” of the enunciative source. They are an element of interdiscourse whose entry into the thread of the discourse leaves its marks, in this instance, inclusive structures that mark a shift in the Edenic stereotype of Brazil, without giving it away. The analyses lead to the conclusion that the discourses that circulate in the fi eld of tourism - as much as they support a stereotype of national space – show, by the supportive effect of the preconstruction, the shift of this image to a plural aspect of the country.
