Abstract

Dominique Maingueneau distinguishes two enunciation regimes in some of his works: the textualizing one and the aphorizing one. The aphorizing enunciation regime “detextualizes” the text in a sense that it can be characterized by a process which tries to mine compacity and dynamics during textualization. Based on such concept as well as taking it into a deeper analysis, the objective of the present text is to analyze a set of Brazilian Modern Art Manifestos in order to demonstrate the plausibility of the hypothesis that such discourse genre may be considered as an aphorizing genre to the extent it is recurrently and abundantly constituted of aphorizations.
