Abstract

This paper presents the concept of translingual practice as opposedto monolithic and monolingual perspectives within the fi eld of foreignlanguage teaching. The notion of superdiversity is also discussed, as well asits implications to the ways meanings and knowledge are constructed thesedays. Bakhtinian theories, especially as far as the notions of dialogismand heteroglossia are concerned, are linked to the translingual approachraising the idea of public space in order to support the importance of apedagogy concerned with the development of social responsibility.
