Abstract

The demand for courses of language for specifi c purposes has increasedgradually due, especially, to the open of borders, the internet and itspopularization and the consequent widening of international relations indifferent contexts, from business to academia, to mention two examples. In addition, we have witnessed a signifi cant expansion of federal technicalinstitutions, for which there is a growing demand for teacher of languagesfor specifi c purposes. In this sense, the paper advocates that undergraduatecourses in Languages and Literatures should consider this reality andcover the teaching education for specifi c purposes in their curricula. It alsosuggests that the work can focus on text genres which are relevant to thecontext and a possible theoretical perspective would be the sociodiscursiveinteractionism (BRONCKART, 2006; DOLZ; SCHNEUWLY, 1998), theapproach on which this paper focuses. By doing so, the paper advocatesthat Languages and Literatures courses are not giving the necessaryattention to the question and that a subject with this focus could contributesignifi cantly to teacher education.
