The elaboration process of an official document aimed at the Pre-School Education

Abstract

This paper, derived from a wider research (Barricelli, 2012), aims atshowing how three subjects report their process of elaborating theOrientações Curriculares – Expectativas de Aprendizagens e OrientaçõesDidáticas – an offi cial document developed by the City Hall of São Paulofocusing on Pre-School Education. These subjects experienced the processfrom different perspectives: fi rst, the Prescriber, a well-known teacherand childhood researcher, who coordinated the group responsible forelaborating the document; secondly, the Trainer who took part in thegroup responsible for the coordinators’ training to utilize the documentand fi nally, the Teacher who represented the professionals from the Pre-School Education of the city of São Paulo, who actually implemented thedocument. In order to organize this paper, we report on the developmentof such process by following the same chronological order of the factspresented by the Prescriber in her interview, which was complemented bythe Trainer’s and the Teacher’s reports. The results show numerous markedprescriptions and confl icts from different instances which infl uenced,to a higher or lower degree, the elaboration of the fi nal version of thedocument.
