Voice experience with children: analysis of the educational process in vocal health
Keywords:
voice, health promotion, school health, health educationAbstract
In schools, groups, workshops and voice training have been indicated as interesting social spheres for the promotion of vocal health; however, reports of experiences with children are scarce. The objective of this article is to carry out a retrospective analysis of the educational process of Voice Training with children in a Children’s School. Thirty-six children and four Language and Speech Pathology interns participated in this study. The retrospective analysis of the educational process is based on data obtained from the documental analysis of reports from the Community Language and Speech Pathology Internship program, in which the group is inserted. The activities developed in each meeting are described, focusing on the themes approached, the kind of educational action and their materials or strategic resources. The analysis, guided by the Health Promotion theoretical-conceptual presuppositions, demonstrated that the themes were determined by a broad and affirmative view of health, which involved aspects of health prevention and promotion. The resources were adapted to the children’s profile and to the actions, which are in accordance with a concept of an active subject and multiplying agent in the perspective of health promotion in the school community. Vocal Training Groups can and must be better explored in the children population and can constitute an important social sphere for Language and Speech Pathology in the construction of projects of healthy school environments or health promotion in schools.Downloads
