Abstract

The purpose of this article was to describe the rehabilitation of a case with dysphagia associated to psychogenic dysphonia. A 47 years old female with progressive complaints of diffi culties to swallow saliva and food. The patient was submitted to clinical and videonasoendoscopic swallowing evaluations and she was diagnosed with mild oropharyngeal dysphagia. She underwent swallowing rehabilitation therapy. The recovery of the swallowing symptoms occurred after the 6th therapy session. The videofl uoroscopy was normal. Although the patient began to present aphonia with strong and sonorous cough, it was diagnosed as psychogenic dysphonia. At this time, the goal of rehabilitation was to re-establish the phonatory effectiveness. The full recovery was after two voice sessions.
