Concept map: teaching toll in the course of speech language pathology

Purpose: Tto analyze the development of the concept map for the academic in disciplines of voice in the Speech-language pathology course, as an assessment tool in the learning process. Method: it was evaluated 40 concept maps, which were developed as part of the assessment process of the disciplines Acoustic analysis of voice and speech and Voice disorders, respectively of the curriculum in the 4th and 5th period of Speech-Language Pathology course. A review of concept maps occurred by filling out a form that included the following items: 1) the concepts presented are consistent with the subject studied, 2) the map is easy to interpret, 3) the student understood the proposed topic; and 4) the map includes a link between different concepts.Results: none of the productions fully achieved the variables evaluated, which shows that students are in the learning stage for the expression of critical thinking. Conclusions: students were unable to relate the topics under study with previous knowledge. The concept map was effective in assessing the line of reasoning used by the students.Downloads
