Abstract

Introduction: The language is interpreted by both cerebral hemispheres. The left hemisphere interprets linguistics information and the right one the melodic information of the speech. It is possible to develop a rehabilitation process of a person with auditory processing disorder that utilizes verbal auditory training specifically for language development and melodies. The present work checked the temporal ordination auditory behavior before and after a contextualized auditory-verbal training using melodic patterns and stories on 15 pre-school children from the Escola Paulistinha de Educação located at the South region of the city of São Paulo. Material andthe first group (5 individuals) was submitted to an audio-verbal training using melodic patterns during six weekly sessions of 30 minutes; the second group (5 individuals) was submitted to a passive audition; on the third group (5 individuals) there was no intervention – non intervention training. The audioverbal training consisted of a work of multissensorial intervention, considering motor and sensorial aspects. For the sensorial aspects, the auditory perception was emphasized by means of a program of a contextualized audio-verbal training based on original melodic patterns and stories. Results and conclusion: Individuals submitted to the training had a better performance on auditory processing tasks such as sequential memory and rhythm than those that were submitted to an unspecific training or that were not submitted to any intervention.
