Estratégias implementadas para enfrentar as exigências vocais da sala de aula: o caso das professoras readaptadas por disfonia

Abstract

Introduction: The high prevalence of dysphonia in professors and the symptoms of vocal complaint have been object of the worldwide literature. The goal of this study is to analyse the performance in professor`s classes with historian of dysphonia and consequence dismissal of academical work. Goal: To identify the professor`s behavior in disadvantage situation related to previous dysphonia when faced to risks of phonatory system originated in school workplace. Method: This study has its baseline in the ergonomia analysis of the activity. The demand came from the professor`s sindicate worried with the prevalence of sickness and dismissal of work. The professors were intentionally selected. The professors operative way was studied according to the type of vocal strategy and its intention in the analysed context. Results: Two types of strategies used were identified according to the type of specified vocal adjustment used in classroom: vocal hyper requirement and self-protection. Both strategies happened even on main class tasks – situation where the voice used is done as a learning material instrument, as well as in other tasks – situation where the voice showed class content interruptions by any reason related to school context or did not show as the normative practice of the educational system. Conclusion: The professor who sickens his voice is able to apply his own dynamics to change the operative way considering the risk to the vocal health. The identified elements can contribute to create politics of vocal health promotion.
