Abstract

Introduction: The telemarketers are professionals who use the voice as an instrument of work and therefore need attention on their vocal health. Aim: This article aims to describe the aspects that involve the voices of telemarketers, from a literature review of the following: the telemarketing service, their environment and work equipment, the voice profile of the telemarketer, and conduct speech therapy in the telemarketing. Material and method: The literature review was performed on vocal health in telemarketers using scientific e non-scientific (legislation) material. Results: After describing the telemarketing and the telemarketers, it was possible to understand that their health is influenced by the quality of physical space and administrative and organizational system, the acoustic environment, the ergonomics and the use of headphones and microphone. Telemarketers have a specific voice profile, with demands, complaints and habits peculiar to the profession, and the speech therapy can act in various ways in telemarketing. Conclusion: Speech therapists, telemarketers and telemarketing supervisors should understand the issues surrounding the health of telemarketers, having knowledge of all aspects that were described in this literature review. Thus, more and more the vocal health interventions of these workers will be focused, improving the quality of life for themselves and their work performance.
