Abstract

In The Politics of Life Itself: Biomedicine, Power and Subjectivity in the Twenty-First Century, Nikolas Rose presents a scenario marked by a series of events that attest to an increase in human ability for intervention in life. In this context, the English sociologist presents a contemporary reading of the concept of biopower, anchored on five aspects which this update addresses: molecularization, optimization, subjectivization, expertise and bioeconomy.
