Resumo

The article examines calligraphy as an intercultural language and communicational process that transcends the boundaries between writing and image. Based on the analysis of Fernando Lemos’s work and the dialogue with artists and theorists such as Henri Michaux, Roger Caillois, Shiryu Morita, and Roland Barthes, Ryuta Imafuku proposes the concept of a “nebula of calligraphy” to describe the symbolic exchange between Eastern and Western visual cultures. Grounded in the Japanese principle of hisshoku, understood as the creative friction between gesture and matter, the text situates calligraphy as an aesthetic and communicational practice of the contemporary imaginary.
