RELAÇÕES DE PODER: POSIÇÕES OCUPADAS POR PROFESSOR E ALUNOS NA CONSTRUÇÃO SOCIAL DO DISCURSO E DA IDENTIDADE
Abstract
Based on a socio-constructionist view of discourse and identity, the aim of this paper is to observe the relationship between the subject positions occupied by teacher and pupils in an L1 class and the social construction of their identities in this context. The analysis of the interactional asymmetries in the classroom shows that the teacher is the powerful participant while the pupils are the non-powerful participants in the teaching/learning process. However, the awareness of the multiple and contradictory nature of identities may lead to changes in this typically asymmetric context and in the social world as a whole.Downloads
