METACOGNITIVE STRATEGIES OF READING COMPREHENSION: CONTRIBUTIONS TO PERMANENCE AND SUCCESS SCHOOL

This article presents one of the actions of the Project Permanência e Êxito, developed at the IFSC - Campus São Miguel do Oeste, the Reading Strategies Workshop, "I read, therefore I understand", with purpose is to teach students metacognitive strategies that help them in reading comprehension. On a psycholinguistic basis, it has as its methodology the direct teaching of the use of metacognitive strategies in the reading of expositive texts. The evaluations indicated immediate benefits in the reading comprehension of the participants, and, in medium and long term, their expansion is expected, favoring their permanence and school success.
