This article intends to discuss the (im)possibility of objectivity in audio description. For this end, it begins with a discussion about how subjectivity has been approached in translation studies, followed by an evaluation on how it is dealt with in studies involving audiodescription and, more specifically, how it appears in manuals concerning this modality of audiovisual translation. Finally, it is presented an analysis of two audiodescription scripts for the same short film, from which it was possible to conclude that, even when the translator tries to be objective, moments of subjectivity and interpretation inevitably will appear in his/her work.
