This work aims at contributing, within the AMPER-POR project, to analyzing the intonation of declarative and interrogative utterances ended in oxytons, paroxytons and proparoxytons words. A phonetic acoustic study of the speech productions of a male speaker, born and resident in São José do Rio Preto, a city in the state of São Paulo was conducted. The results of the analysis of the intonational patterns have shown similiarities with other research analysis results in relation to the distinction between declarative and interrogative intonation patterns, being the fundamental frequency contour (F0), the acoustic parameter that best represents this distinction. Differences in relation to the alignment of the F0 peak in relation to the stressed vowel in the final words in the utterances have also been been found and correlated with assertive and questioning meanings.
