This article is developed in the framework of AMPER-POR (Atlas Multimédia Prosodique de l'Espace Roman pour la description de la langue portugaise), a project which investigates the prosodic variation of speech data in Portuguese language varieties. Declarative and interrogative utterances produced by a male speaker from Sorocaba, a town in the countryside of the Estate of São Paulo, Brazil were analyzed. The results comprise differences between the declarative and interrogative intonational contours, the interrelation between intonation and stress patterns, acoustic analysis, tonal annotation by DaTO and the position of the f0 alignment in the stressed vowel of the last word in these utterances. The final f0 movement in the stressed syllable of the last word of the utterance as well as the f0 alignment were found to be relevant to distinguish between declarative and interrogative utterances.
