PROSODIC VARIATION IN MINAS GERAIS DIALECTS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE AMPER-POR PROJECT
Keywords:
AMPER project, Minas Gerais speech, prosodic variation, declarative and yes/no questions’ prosody.Abstract
This study investigates the prosodic variation in the state of Minas Gerais in four cities, in order to characterize their prosody and verify if there are prosodic differences as much as attested segmental differences in the speaking of Minas. To do this, sentences were recorded according to the methodology of the AMPER Project; declarative and yes/no questions which finish in paroxytone words were studied by measures of fundamental frequency, intensity and duration. The prosodic data analyzed were similar in the four cities, showing that prosody does not appear to be a principal factor for dialectal distinction in Minas Gerais.
