Abstract

This text aims to describe and analyze multimodality aspects in a Portuguese Language coursebook approved by the National Textbook Program. More specifically, it investigates how intermodal integration proposed by Painter, Martin and Unsworth (2013), in the opening chapters, layout and how these aspects can help to promote students’ visual/multimodal literacy. Results show that the textbook has a great potential of multimodal elements that can be explored in Portuguese Language classes as a source for teaching-learning, especially for reading images.
