CONSIDERAÇÕES SOBRE A RELAÇÃO ENTRE EXAMES INTERNACIONAIS DE PROFICIÊNCIA EM LÍNGUA INGLESA E POLÍTICA LINGUÍSTICA

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the relation between proficiency exams and Language Policy which is seen as a broad concept involving dissemination devices in society. Two studies in different contexts are presented. The first one was carried out in a private regular school where the students preparation for international tests led to changes in the curriculum. The second investigation was done in a language center of a federal university set up as an action within the Science without Borders program. The results show the exams status given by the society and the washback effects which reflect the Language Policy device.

Atualmente, desenvolve pesquisas na área de Lingüística Aplicada relacionadas aos seguintes temas: avaliação em língua inglesa, efeito retroativo de testes de alta relevância e inglês para negócios. Possui certificação de proficiência em língua inglesa - CPE da Cambridge (Certificate of Proficiency in English), BULATS (Business Language Testing Service) nível C2 e TOEFL ITP .

Profissionalmente, atuo, majoritariamente, nas áreas de Estágio Supervisionado (Português e Inglês) e Prática de Ensino (Português e Inglês). Atualmente, sou Professor Adjunto, nível I, da Universidade Federal de Alfenas (UNIFAL-MG), onde atuo nas áreas de Ensino/Aprendizagem de Português como Língua Materna e de Português como Língua Estrangeira (PLE). Quanto à pesquisa, tenho investigado, nos últimos anos, as implicações sociopolíticas do ensino e da aprendizagem de inglês como língua estrangeira no Brasil. De forma geral, interesso-me pelas práticas de política e planejamento linguístico em vigor no Brasil relativamente às línguas estrangeiras e ao português como língua materna e estrangeira.
