The analysis of Oral interpretation of a poem acording to its expressive aspects

Abstract

The investigation of the reciting speech style raises interest due to its expressive load. The objective of this work is investigating, by means of a phonetic experiment, the impressive effects caused on listeners by the “Sonnet on Faithfulness”. For the perceptual analysis, 4 semantic descriptors (agradability, emotional impact, vocal projection and interpretation) were judged according to a Likert scale. Recordings of 8 speakers were used as stimuli. The test was applied to 38 judges. The acoustic analysis comprised parameters extracted automatically. The results were confronted by means of multidimensional statistical analysis and the impressive impact of the readings were discussed.
