Abstract

In favour of speech studies one may find, among other technologies, the acoustic analysis and the electroglottography (EGG). In order to verify EGG’s contribution, in association with the acoustic tools, we have chosen the phonic contrast of voicing of speech with no alteration to perform the investigation. The participants chosen for this study were 3 speakers of Brazilian Portuguese. The analysed samples contemplated simultaneous recording of acoustic and electroglottographic signals with pairs of voiced and voiceless plosive consonants. This study indicates that EGG is an efficient technique for the analysis and characterisation of speech in the realm of phonic contrast of voicing of speech with no alteration.
