Effects of strength training on the functional capacity of institutionalized elderly

This is a quasi-experimental study that verified effects of strength training on the functional capacity of institutionalized elderly. The elderly were evaluated by capacity tests and submitted to strength training (nine exercises, 3x12 maximum repetitions, 60-90 seconds interval) for a period of 12 weeks (frequency 3x / week). It was observed that the short-term strength training program improves the performance of the daily life activities of the elderly.Downloads
