Disability appears as an important paradigm for health care for the elderly. The aim of this study was to verify the prevalence of disability in the elderly and analyze the cultural sociodemographic factors associated. The prevalence of disability was 2,5% for the “DLBA” and 7,1% for “IADL” and there was the association between the age 80 years old and disability for “IADL” (p<0,001). The results found reinforce the stock needs, especially prevention, in order to ensure independence and functionality to the elder.
