The functional capacity can be evaluated through instruments that allow to know the individual profile of the elderly helping in the promotion of health to the same. This study aims to evaluate the functional capacity of elderly people participating in a pilates group at a UNATI - Open University of the Third Age of Goiânia. Cross-sectional study with a sample composed of 24 elderly individuals, aged 60 to 76 years. The surveyed elderly practiced regular Pilates exercises on a regular basis twice a week. Data were collected on the level of physical activity, functional ability to walk, sit and stand up and body mass index. The decrease in BMI and the effects of aging itself are benefited by regular physical activity. The more active seniors who practice Pilates exercises have better functional capacity and motor skills, regardless of their age. KDownloads
