This paper aims to present a debate on several tendencies of sociological and antropological analysis on consumption. The text begins with Bourdieu and Baudrillard’s theories on consumption as a mean of distinction; in a second moment, the debate of anthropology authors, who consider consumption as a mean of identity construction is then presented; it ends with the discussion of authors who suggest a subjective analysis of consumption.Metrics
