The imperialism and the colonial practices monopolized a whole representation system, setting ideological structures guided by a supposed essence or nature, especially attributed to women and the black population, justifying the oppression and the domination of gender and race. This article examines some theoretical pathways for an anti-essentialist understanding of the world: in the context of post-colonial studies, the review of some concepts proposes a critical reading about the continuity of colonial relations of domination and oppression, showing the double colonization of women; the decolonial feminism indicates an alternative pathway, proposing to analyze the oppression of gender and race from a border thinking perspective. The results indicate a historical-sociological understanding of the colonialism and its impact on the contemporary society.Downloads
