Education psychology as a subject of regular secondary schools in Maringá

Abstract

This article is aimed at analyzing the Education Psychology subject at regular secondary schools in Maringá between the 1950s and 1970s of the XX century. The article has three schools as investigative locus: “Instituto de Educação Estadual de Maringá”, “Colégio Santa Cruz” and “Colégio Santo Inácio”. The work was developed from analyses of school documents, books and didactic manuals. In this research, we verified that most authors of didactic manuals were foreigners, the learning process was the most common theme dealt by such authors, the practical educational field was the most expressive, the theoretical referential of behavioral psychology was the most found in literature. The teaching of Education Psychology was based on the New School Movement precepts with some traces of technical pedagogy.
