High reliability organizations can be characterized by their high level of complexity and continuous risk exposure. Under this environment, one can observe the arise of stress and interpersonal conflicts that requires communication skills to be properly managed.. This qualitative research, outlined by documental analysis aim to study the communication failures in case of incidents and accidents in civil aviation, based on the investigations conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration and Centro de Investigação e Prevenção de Acidentes Aeronáuticos. According to the Agencies reports, failures on communication respond for 80 percent of all incidents and accidents in Aviation. Despite of this, the research results pointed out there is no sufficient training to develop communication skills for specific extreme risk situation and continuous pressure. The training is more focused in technical skill than in social skills.Metrics
