Abstract In this essay is discussed the difficulties to obtain a theory “ready for the use” in Administration. It shows how this problem is correlated to the nature of the subject and to the way of the present university career in the Business Schools. This causes two consequences: (1) the possibility of transformation of any new idea in a universal recipe for the problems solution in the area (“hype”); and (2) it creates a market for the consultancies, which supposedly presents solutions to the companies faster than the Academy. As measure to avoid that a new idea be seen as panacea, it is recommended the use of scientific methodology premises to identify the limits of new ideas application in the companies administration.
