The famous inscription of the oracle of Delphi "know thyself" is present throughout the history of philosophical thought and Christian spirituality. In Thanks to Origen, Gregory Thaumaturgus presents the master as a true philosopher. As he learned from the master, the excellence of philosophy is found in the realization of the oracular saying: "know thyself". This article intends to develop this aspect of the spiritual itinerary of Origen from passages of his Commentary on the Canticle of Canticles, in which self-knowledge is placed in the recognition of being created in the image and likeness of God (ontological field) and in the knowledge of the dispositions of the soul (ethical field).Downloads
