ROMANS 1: LESS FILTER AND CLOSER

Abstract

There is a certain concealment or impoverishment of meaningful information in well-known translations of the Greek text on the first chapter of Romans. This is the case of several versions in English, Portuguese and German. Most versions are based on the Textus Receptus. Face to this problem, a new translation from the Westcott and Hort critical text (1885) is presented. Furthermore, to avoid certain historical-theological filters of these translations, by using a more literal text, without increasing the reader's effort for overcome the distance from the author context, a proposed translation not only adopts auxiliary complements as it is followed by a series of comments of its main words and themes.
