Abstract

Starting from a brief socio-ecclesial contextualization of the period when Father Julio Maria De Lombaerde, as a Missionary of the Holy Family, came to Brazil, we go through the accounts of his journey and the first years of his mission in Macapá, seeking in them the traces that show the action of the Spirit in his acting and in his being a missionary. We do this by distributing the course of this text into five steps: not wanting to dominate people; not having the ambition to acquire goods or advantages; using meekness, humility and welcome; showing true charity and presenting a life of Christian witness. The action of the Spirit reveals traits which transcend the limits of his historical time and allow us to see the signs of the actuality of the missionary action of Father Julio Maria for our times.
