Basic Principles of Religious Education according to the Science of Religion Course at the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS)

Abstract

Based on the analysis of the experience made during two programs of the Religious Sciences Course of the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS), during the PIBID (Institutional Scholarship Program for the Introduction to Teaching) and during the Required Curricular Internship Program, this article aims to present a short diagnosis of the situation of religious education in this Brazilian state and also to provide some recommendations regarding the training of Religious Education teachers based on the teaching principles of Social Sciences. We intend to have a look inside the Religious Education classroom. How does Religious Education take place in the daily routine of the classroom? What methods and pedagogical principles are being applied?
