The meaning of being Jewish for three generations of women in Rio Grande do Sul

This article aims to understand Jewish Women identity over three generations through Rio Grande do Sul Jewish Women lives histories, observing how they deal and understand the Jewish culture social rules, and if they face captivities trough their lives. Personal narratives of life histories were carried out with three Jewish families from the south of Brazil, adding nine women from three generations. The interviews were analyzed with the Rosalind Gill discourse analysis. As a result, it has been identified that third generation women are already aware of the origin of Jewish sexista ttraditions and that Jewish women are lifted in the discourse when considered more spiritualized, but in practice are excludedDownloads
