The Candomble terreiro presents itself as a space of concentration and emanation of ase (the sacred force that is at the base of life), of the presence of the sacred, preservation and materialization of ancestral memory. It is the axis of the egbe (the terreiro community) and of a series of paths traveled by people, animals, materials, objects, knowledge, values, ideas, feelings and actions. It presents itself as a space of resistance, preservation, and transmission of afro-Brazilian traditions, cultural values that oppose those of the dominant culture.
