Abstract

This paper aims to intersect graphic narrative and esoteric symbols in the comic book Promethea and discuss how its creators, Alan Moore and J. H. Williams III, interpret the composition of the tarot. To do so, we will analyze Promethea 12 in contrast with the most popular and used decks in the west: Marseille and Waite. Promethea results in an exploration of the spiritual potential of myth as much as the artistic/imaginative creation.

Professora Assistente no instituto de Letras, Linguística e Artes (ILLA) na Universidade Federal do Sul e Sudeste do Pará (UNIFESSPA). Graduada em Letras com a Habilitação em Língua Inglesa na UFPA em 2011 e Mestra em Letras na mesma instituição em 2014. Atualmente, é doutoranda em Letras na UFSM.
