This article analyses the Islamic performance in the context of an annual celebration that occurs, simultaneously, across the world, according to the Islamic calendar. This religious and cultural expression presented the relevant characteristics unprecedented to my field of study for the doctoral degree at the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, resulting in the proposal of a new approach to the concept of religious territory. This has been made possible because of the extensive and in-depth study of the Islamic Shia performance, relating it to a broad geographic conceptual discussion. The purpose of this paper is to analyze a performance religious connection with the concept of the religious territory, using the ethnogeographic method and its epistemological orientation to the Cultural Geography.
