This article has the main objective to understand how the religious work of priests (priests) of Catholic churches of a city in the state of Minas Gerais is configured. The qualitative approach was adopted based on field, exploratory, and descriptive research. The instruments for data collection comprised semi-structured interviews conducted through a script, being recorded and transcribed for analysis. The technique used for data analysis was discourse analysis. As a result, it was possible to observe that the work of the priest is born from a vocational call that is worked on a formation based on five main axes: academic, intellectual, spiritual, human-affective, and communitarian. Na arduous/tiresome routine of priestly activity is observed, and, although not a dangerous/unhealthy profession, there seems to be a consensus as priests may suffer several damages of a physical and/or mental nature.
