Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the importance of inclusive spiritual nursing care for individuals without religion. In health care, the spiritual dimension plays a crucial role in the overall well-being of individuals. Although neglected by most health professionals. The evolution of religiosity, spirituality and health care in Brazil presents a rich and diverse trajectory throughout the country’s history. During the colonial period, the catholic religion played a dominant role, being the main belief system and spiritual reference of the population. When caring for non-religious people, nursing professionals must adopt an individualized and respectful approach, recognizing that spirituality goes beyond traditional religious beliefs. This implies creating a welcoming environment that allows patients to freely express their beliefs, values ​​and sources of spiritual comfort.

Diogo Jacintho Barbosa, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro

PhD in Nursing (UERJ). Master in Telemedicine and Telehealth (UERJ). Graduate in Nursing (GAMA FILHO). Member of the Telemedicine and Telehealth Research Groups (UERJ) and of the Health Promotion and Care in Primary Care Group, in the line of research: Evaluation of Services and Technologies (FIOCRUZ). Member of the Editorial Board in the role of reviewer of the following journals: Pesquisa and Health from the Cesumar University and Revista de Saúde Santa Maria from the Federal University of Santa Maria. Member of ISFTeH - International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth. Substitute Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Professor of the Preparatory Course in Higher and Medium Level Nursing. . Active in the health area since 2009 in the following themes: Education in Nursing, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Psychoactive Drugs, Telehealth, Tele-education.
