Abstract

This article critically examines Lenaeus vases and Euripides’ play The Bacchae to explore the practices and rituals of the Maenads, the priestesses of Dionysus. Using an interdisciplinary approach that combines textual analysis, iconographic study, and historical context, the study seeks to deepen our understanding of Maenadic rituals and illuminate the interplay between art and religious practice in ancient Greece.

Doutoranda em Ciência da Religião pela UFJF (bolsista FAPEMIG), com Mestrado em Ciência da Religião pela mesma instituição (bolsista CAPES). É membra do grupo de pesquisa RENATURA (UFJF) e faz parte da equipe editorial da revista Sacrilegens. Além disso, é associada da Sociedade Brasileira de Estudos Clássicos (SBEC).
