Abstract

The main objective of this article goes beyond listing a few hypotheses present in the literature and but it also presents new contributions, justifying the failures of North-South flows of knowledge regarding the development of the South. We searched to find a guiding line that could tie the discussion and organize such cases scattered in the literature, without seeming to be only one set of ideas juxtaposed, with little congruence between them. In this sense, we presented a reflection on the importance of knowledge as a factor of development and contributed to the research agenda on the theme, exploring possible explanations that could justify the difficulties of knowledge transfer between North and South.
