Abstract

The unemployment turned again, in the last decades, a serious and widespread problem, both in developed countries and in no developed, including Brazil. That unemployment is interpreted in different ways by the economic theories. Starting from their theoretical foundations, those conceptions derive different diagnoses and policies proposals. In that sense, the article discusses the theoretical bases about unemployment of the neoclassicals, keynesians, and schumpeterians conceptions, and, starting from that, makes an analysis of the policies proposals against the unemployment derived of those theories, ending about its largest or smaller effectiveness to face the problem.
