This article discusses the consequences of globalization to the Brazilian economy in the last two decades, when there were interruption of the long run growth, productive structural changes and stabilization programs. It is analyzed causes and consequences of the lost decade, adoption of Washington Consensus, the Real Plan, balance of payments deterioration, effects of the economic policy and external vulnerability in order to explain the foreign restriction to the sustained growth, due balance of payments deterioration.Downloads
