Abstract

The paper analyzes the differences among the position of Brazil and other countries participating in the Agriculture Ministerial Meeting of the OECD in February 2010. Brazil has participated as an observer (enhanced engagement country) and expressed disagreement to relevant agricultural policies of OECD members. The resumption of the OECD Ministerial Meetings, after twelve years, reflected the demand for larger forums of coordination regarding concerns in adapting agricultural practices to the standards of sustainability and food security, while preserving economic and the agricultural sector growth. The analysis of the differences among Brazil and other participants were made from a rank of major issues in seven thematic dimensions proposed by the authors, and analyzed by multivariate scaling technique.
