To quantify the differences in the level of economic growth in countries with different policies and institutions, as developed and developing countries, and its relationship to the degree of economic freedom between 2000 and 2007 was the aim of the paper. For this, we used analysis technique as a model with panel data. The results indicated that the degree of economic freedom, in five areas analyzed, has influenced the economic growth. Among the results, we highlight the influence of international trade area for which a positive relationship was evident when analyzing developing countries and a negative relationship to be developed, which can be explained by institutional aspects related to subsidies and other barriers to foreign trade.Downloads
